The last few years have brought a culinary revolution to Montevideo. Before opening Gourmand 8 years ago, you would have never seen a menu offering croissants, eggs or anything resembling breakfast. Now, that has all changed. Since then Montevideo's culinary scence continues to expand beyond grilled meats, milanesas and french fries. Below are some of our favorite spots to enjoy the city. These are our unbiased, unpaid comments of places where we dine at least once a month.

10. Gourmand
When we opened our restaurant 8 years ago (in 2017), our goal was to have a place where we would want to eat everyday; offering international dishes from our home countries of France and the United States. We wanted to create a space for gourmet eating and an ambiance to enjoy with friends at all times of the day (breakfast, brunch, merienda or apéro).
Location: Cordón Soho
Must-try: Benedicts and Chipa Waffles
Atmosphere: International chic
Traditional spots and other notable mentions we would like to call out are: our neighbors, Las Flores en Cordón Soho, La Pulperia, Su Bar, Sofitel and Escaramuza.
